How It Works

Yellowstone Adult Soccer Community was formed with the intent to bring easily accessible, inclusive, fun, safe, and structured adult soccer into the Billings community. To do so, we provide two types of leagues that cater to the two most common types of players - those looking for fast paced, well regulated game play with built-in incentives to win and those looking for slower paced game play that want to learn how to play, get back into it, or just play in a more relaxed environment.

Experienced League

You can register as an individual or in a small group. There will be one center ref and two line judges at each game. Scores will be kept, standings will be maintained, a tournament will be had, and a winning team will be declared! There will be a minimum of three ladies on each roster, but no gender requirements for who is on the field.

This league is ideal for you if:

  • You have been playing soccer for more than 3 years (or if you played in high school or college)
  • You are interested in well regulated game play
  • You care about winning your games

Novice League

You can register as either an individual or in a small group of up to 6 people. There will not be an option to register a full team. Individuals and small groups will be formed into teams by YASC administration with the intent to keep experience and ability as even as possible in each team. Each season, the recreational teams will be remixed - so you will eventually get an opportunity to meet and play with everyone in the league. There will be one center ref for each game. The score will not be kept and no standings or tournaments will be held. This league provides an opportunity to play soccer for the sake of playing soccer. There will be a required minimum of 4 ladies on the field for each team during game play.

This league is ideal for you if:

  • You are new to soccer and interested in learning how to play
  • You don't really care whether you win or lose; you just want to have fun
  • You want to play at a slower pace in a more relaxed environment

If you are registered for the Novice League, but your temperament or playing style upsets the league dynamics, you will be ejected from the league with an opportunity to be picked up by a team from the Structured League (but no guarantee).

Other Details

YASC will host three seasons per year: Spring (April, May, & June), Summer (June, July, & August), and Fall (August, September, & October). Each league will play two games per week between 6 and 9:30pm (depending on daylight). One game on Monday and one game on Wednesday. Both leagues will play at the same time, so if a player is registered in both, they will certainly have schedule conflicts. Each player will register and pay their fee individually, rather than collecting a fixed team fee and requiring captains to manage their player fees. Team jerseys are provided by YASC and included in your registration fee.
