How Does the Recreational League Work?

You can register as either an individual or in a small group of up to 6 people. There will not be an option to register a full team in the Recreational League - this option is only available in the Structured League. Individuals and small groups will be formed into teams by YASC administration with the intent to keep experience and ability as even as possible in each team. Each season, the recreational teams will be remixed so you will eventually get an opportunity to meet and play with everyone in the league. There will be one center ref for each game. The score will not be kept and no standings or tournaments will be held. The Recreational League provides an opportunity to play soccer for the sake of playing soccer. There will be a required minimum of 4 ladies on the field for each team during game play.

This league is ideal for you if:

  • You are new to soccer and are interested in learning how to play
  • You don't really care whether you win or lose; you just want to have fun
  • You want to play at a slower pace in a more relaxed environment

If you have registered for the Recreational League, but your temperament or playing style upsets the league dynamics, you will be ejected from the Recreational League with an opportunity to be picked up by a team from the Structured League (but no guarantee).

When do we play?

  • Each team will play at least 1 game per week for 9 weeks (excluding holidays)
  • Games will be played each Tuesday
  • Game times will be at approximately 6pm and 7pm and may change due to available daylight.
  • Games will be 60 minutes long

What If I Can't Make All the Games?

Don't worry about it. Teams will be structured with the assumption that there will be variations in attendance. Plus, there will always be eager substitutes from other teams that will be happy to help.

How Do I Register?

  1. You must be registered by the closing date above in order to play
  2. Click the 'Register' button above
  3. If you are happy to play on any team, register as an 'Individual'
  4. If you have specific friends you'd like to play with, register as a 'Small Group Member' and coordinate with your friends on the name of your small group (up to 6 people per small group, if you register more, the first 6 will be kept together)
  5. Complete the questionnaire as honestly as possible and read through the waiver and code of conduct
  6. Submit payment through the website
